Environmental Education
with Dixoni Emmanuel

I have been actively nurturing students from 15 primary and secondary schools in Ilemela Municipal Council, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to combat climate change and become globally responsible citizens. Over the past four years, I have dedicated my time to conducting environmental education sessions, organizing tree planting activities, establishing tree nurseries, initiating school gardening projects, coordinating trash clean-ups, and campaigning for improved access to quality water resources.

This initiative has successfully provided students with the tools needed to safeguard our planet. To date, 23,200 trees have been planted, which has contributed to reducing soil erosion and land degradation, while also offering protection against severe sun and heat exposure.

Looking ahead, my goal is to expand this program to train students from 50 schools across the Mwanza and Kagera regions, alongside their grandparents, as peer educators in climate change mitigation strategies. This effort will particularly focus on addressing the current crippling drought affecting the region.
