Reinhold Mangundu

Reinhold Mangundu is currently pursuing a PhD at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. His research focuses on the transformative potential of social innovations in Southern Africa, with a particular emphasis on transdisciplinary approaches and social-ecological systems research related to transformations.
Reinhold has a deep passion for food sovereignty, which is reflected in his coordination of the RuralRevive Project: Building A Desert-Based Economy. This initiative aims to establish a desert-based economy through the integration of the food, water, and energy nexus. More information about the project can be found here: RuralRevive.
He is a Donella Meadows Fellow and the recipient of two international awards: the ITRI Visionary Young Leaders Award 2020 and the Next Generation Foresight Practitioners Development Award 2021. Reinhold is also a poet, Community Development Planner, Sustainability Researcher, and Environmental Activist, with a strong commitment to the well-being of both people and the planet.
Reinhold holds a Master of Philosophy in Sustainable Development, Planning, and Management, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development, both from Stellenbosch University (Cum Laude). Additionally, he earned an Honors Degree in Regional and Rural Development from the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Namibian Environment and Wildlife Society.
